The general principles of on-grid systems are as follows:
- No energy storage takes place. Grid power supplies continuous energy.
- Most on-grid inverters operate with MPPT principle, hence increases the efficiency of solar power generation.
- The energy produced can be consumed immediately. Excess energy production is sold back to grid. If energy consumption is greater than produced, grid power supplies the difference.
- Bidirectional counters is utilized in order to measure the energy consumption/production in both directions.
